Hi Jason,

I do have a video to help with the Retrofit process using hand sketches.  It was also a part of one of my previous classes.  Here is a portion of the video topic index from that class:

Once posted, the title of that video would be:   “ creating a Retrofit  Revit project using a hand sketch to trace over the exitisting piping”

The tags could include:   “retrofit”,  “renovation”,  “survey”,  “tracing”, “existing”, “sheetrock”

The description of this new video can be the video topic index referenced above with the times adjusted for the segregated video.

Hi Jason,

I am still hopeful that you can retrieve your existing piping from a previous HydraCAD for AutoCAD dwg and I am still anxious to point you to a good video to help with that but in this e-mail I wanted to share a video that describes the collaboration process in case that is applicable to your new project.  Here is the link to the class recording with that information:

               https://hydratec.sharefile.com/d-s1b774bc2f7ad4631b6da5aa198cea3d2

That video is 3+ hours long but the portion of interest to you is between 2hrs 5 min   and 2hrs 40min.   I have cc’d Derek on this so that he can slice that out of the long video and add it to our Helpful videos.  It could then be found by searching for:  “Collaboration”, ”Central Models”,  “Worksharing”, “Colaborate”, “Worksets”, “Cloud Model”, “BIM360”

I am going to Derek to clip that 35 min video and post it tho helpful videos with the tags mentioned above.  The title of that video will be “Collaboration of your Fire Protection model with other trades represented as linked Revit Models”

The description of that video should include:

Fire Protection Models can be generated using linked references to other trades in multiple ways including:

  • Local Fire Protection Model linked to multiple Revit Projects for the other trades. Local refers to rvt files saved on your hard drive or rvt files saved on a company network drive or even rvt files saved as cloud models so long as nobody else is refencing those files
  • Shared Fire Protection model as a central work shared model, linked to the other trades in workshared central models saved on a local network drive or in the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).

This video is focused on the Shared Fire Protection model.   There is also another Helpful Video (pdf) titled “Let’s start a new revit project with linked Revit models” worth investigating.   Local Fire Protection models are what we normally cover in the On-Line training and can have the rvt files hosted anywhere so long as you are the exclusive user of those files.

Best regards,

Alan
