Standalone HydraCALC (Location)

Error Type: Failed to launch

Description:

Upon calculating a file, the error message, "Failed to launch C:\HES\Hydratec for revit\programs\calcdiagnose.exe" pops up.

Was preceeded by these messages;

Plus this;  Number of Loops -1 and or Nodes with undesignated elevations

Solutions:

1.
Cause:

Disconnected or dead ended pipe

Solution:

1. Go to the menu [Utilities|Find Special Disconnect]

In this calc, the water supply is node SRC.  Make sure the 'Show disconnected' option is selected then click Find Disconnects.  It will list which nodes are not connected to the source.  In this case, 29 does not connect to SRC.  Click Highlight Potentials to have it indicate those nodes in your calculation.  Fix your input.

2.
Cause:

An error in the input caused this message to pop up, but this could have been avoided altogether by heeding to previous error messages.

Solution:

This message indicates a possible problem;

As does this;

So the calc should be canceled and the issue fixed.  If you try to forge on, then you'll get the error message shown above regarding calcdiagnose.exe.

In this case, hydraulic reference points for a pump were entered (ie. PO & PI) but the pump wasn't inserted as a water supply.  Fix that and the error goes away.

3.
Cause:

Disconnected or dead ended pipe

Solution:

Dead end pipe not found in initial checks because it's being fed from two sides.  For example the top of a riser nipple (bullhead tee) on a branchline, but it's not connected down to the main pipe.

One hint may be this message regarding 'undesignated elevations'

Use 'Find Common Elevations' to find out which ones;

Reference point 22 is dead ending and not connecting to anything else…

On row 70, #17 was entered instead of #22
