Security and Licensing Installation (Ribbon/Toolbar/Location)

Error Type: Error 1500

Description:

When attempting to run the HydraKEY install, the install fails to run with Error 1500.  Two instances of the install appear in the task manager.  Neither completes succesfully.  Killing one of them closes them both.

Solutions:


1.
Cause:

An update to windows or some other anomoly on the machine has caused the Windows Installer to become corrupt.   

Solution:

Ask your IT department to repair your Windows Installer Service.  Then attempt the HydraKEY install again

 


2.
Cause:

An update to windows or some other anomoly on the machine has caused the Windows Installer to become corrupt.   

Solution:

If solution 1 is not possible or it fails, download this .ZIP file and replace the files manually on your computer by the following means:

 

1. Close all Hydratec products.

 

2. Download the "HydraKEY Files" Self-extracting 7zip file from here:   

https://hydrakey-public.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/HydraKEY_20240415_Files.exe

 

3. Run the self extracting EXE file and allow it to extract to a location of your choosing (ie. your Desktop or Downloads folder are fine).  Do not use C:\HES

 

*NOTE* If the self extracting .EXE file fails, instead download the Windows .ZIP file containing the same files, located at:  https://hydrakey-public.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/HydraKEY_20240415_Files.zip

 

For the purposes of the below demonstration, let us assume that your windows drive is C:.  If it is not, use the your windows drive letter in place of C:\ 

 

 

For the three folders extracted, make sure that all files in each of the three folders in this image are copied/overwritten into the following three folder locations on your machine (ie. Move the files from the extracted folder to the actual folder on your computer.)

 

       

 

a) The file(s) in HydraKEY go to...   C:\HES\HydraKey

b) The file(s) in System32 go to... C:\Windows\System32

c) The file(s) in SysWow64 go to... C:\Windows\SysWOW64

 

Overwrite the files inside each folder with the ones extracted from the self-extracting zip file.  

 

Open HydraKEY and insure that you do not receive the red UPDATE button to show that you are now on the most current version.

 

Once complete, you can delete the extracted folders and the .EXE or .ZIP file you downloaded
