AutoCAD Based 3D Modeling (Ribbon/Toolbar/Location)

Button: Persistent Model

Description:

Possible duplicate Device @ (0,0,0)

There are 3d solids in the drawing that have no geometry. They must be deleted but cannot be selected with a window. Issue can be caused when a 3D Detail fails to be created properly - process creates a footprint at 0,0,0 with no geometry to be seen. Persistent Model

Solutions:

1.
Cause:

If you have inserted flexible sprinkler connections on your drawing, the FSC definitions are likely the culprits and you will NOT want to delete the 0,0,0 3D solids.  At this point, ignore the error messages.

Solution:

Click OK at each message and continue with the process of creating the Persistent Model

2.
Cause:

There are 3d solids in the drawing that have no geometry. They must be deleted but cannot be selected with a window. Issue can be caused when a 3D Detail fails to be created properly - process creates a footprint at 0,0,0 with no geometry to be seen.

Solution:

1. DELETE the Persistent Model drawing.

2. To select your objects use QUICK SELECT (QSELECT command) and set the filters to;

a) Apply to = Entire Drawing

b) Object type = 3D Solid

c) Properties Layer = 3d_details

c) Include in new selection set

This will select ALL of your 3D solids including the ones without geometry.  Your properties window will indicate how many objects were selected.

3. With the objects selected (grips exposed), use the move command move them all a clear area (ie. 1000' to one side).  You'll see your objects moved to the side  Press ESC to unselect everything.

4. Use the move command to move all the visible objects back 1000' feet to their original location.  The properties window should indicate fewer objects than selecteed in step 2.

5. Use step 2 with teh same perameters to reselect all objects in the entire drawing and expose grips, but then SHIFT + select a window in your drawing area to unselect.  Properties will indicate that some objects are likely still selected.

6. Press DELETE on the keyboard to delete the objects without geometry.

Save the drawing file. 'Export to Navisworks' should no longer report a duplicate device.
