Solution:

Go to "smartool options" (located in the 3d modeling "smart" toolbar) Select "Hydrapipe Settings" tab Uncheck the box next to "Display Pipes in 3D Mode" and then replace the check. Pick "Apply" and "OK" Type "Regen" on the command line and fittings should be back to spheres. NOTE: If thin pipe and flat fittings are preferred, then leave uncheck the box and leave unchecked
