Security and Licensing HydraKEY (Ribbon/Toolbar/Location)

Button: Opening Error Type: Failed to launch

Description:

When trying to open HydraKEY, you see the spash screen, but it eventually times out and the application does not open

Solutions:

1.
Cause:

Your Windows operating system is unable to obtain information about your hardware.

HydraKey is having trouble creating a machine ID for the computer because it is having issues obtaining the machine's hardware profile.

You can test this by typing in SYSTEM INFO in the Windows Search Bar and opening the System Information App.

If clicking SYSTEM SUMMARY shows; "Can't Collect Information: Cannot access the Windows Management Instrumentation software. Windows Management files may be moved or missing.", this means there's an issue with your Windows install and therefore HydraKEY version 2023.09.09 will NOT open for you

Below is a normal System Information window.

Solution:

1. Download this file by clicking this link or copy/pasting the link below into your web browser.

https://hydrakey-public.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/SplashCrashFIX.bat

2. Windows Defender may balk at it, please allow the file to download.

3. Go to your Downloads folder, right-click the file and select 'Run as Administrator'.

4. A Command window will pop up and run through the process.  BE PATIENT, it may take up to 4 minutes for the process to complete.  The window will close on its own.  Do not prematurely close the window.

5. At its completion, attempt the SYSTEM INFORMATION tool again.  You should see the information of your computer now.  Close Sys Info.

6. You should now be able to open HydraKEY.

2.
Cause:

You will likely be able to repair this problem by running some Windows scripts.

Solution:

See HydraCARD #1232 , cause #1 for its instructions.
