Revit Based Add-Ins (Ribbon/Toolbar/Location)

Button: HydraCAD Function: Retrieve HydraCAD Revit MEP Content

Description:

When Revit retrieves the content from ACAD it is recognizable but not really usable.  It looks all wonky / messed up.

Solutions:

Cause:

Revit can only handle models within 20 miles of 0,0 and the current model is ‘out of bounds’

Solution:

Use careful AutoCAD techniques to move you model back to within range of 0,0

In the example shown below, that would mean:

  • Return to 2d
  • Select ENTIRE DWG (be sure all layers are on and unlocked)
  • Move the ENTIRE selection from a base of [High Number]’ , [High Number]’  to 0,0
  • Switch to 3d
  • Create Revit MEP Link to System Model
  • Start a new model in Revit using the appropriate template
  • Use Add-Ins…  HydraCAD…  Retrieve Revit MEP content…   to create the new model

Note: If the project is too far of a distance away, it is possible trying to move it this way will not work.

Instead go to a 2D View, zoom out and draw a line from 0,0 to your project location, and move it to the line's endpoint at 0,0. This will work even though other methods might not.
