Standalone HydraVIEW (Location)

Button: Process Stock List

Description:

Printing a stock list displays printout which looks like very small print.  Trying to change the printer by using the SETUP button makes no difference.

Solutions:

Cause:

The Windows default printer is set to a large format printer (ie. plotter)

When the print process is started from HydraLIST, it checks the sheet dimensions of the Windows default printer, then scales and sizes accordingly.

If you print your stocklist to a 30x42 sheet, it tries to space things out evenly, but in effect making it look like your font is small or the spacing is incorrect.

Solution:

Close HydraVIEW, go to the Windows Control Panel, [Devices and Printers] and change your default printer to a standard sheet format printer.  For a test, use the Microsoft Print to PDF printer

Right-click the printer and select Printing Preferences to verify the sheet size.

Confirm it's set to Portrait and Letter

Click OK to exit out of the printer setup, then re-process your stocklist.

FYI - the reason you cannot adjust it by clicking the SETUP button and changing the printer there is because 'the horse is already out of the barn' and the printout scaling already done.  It must be re-processed from the beginning, via HydraLIST.

For what it's worth, in Windows 7, HydraVIEW could save a default printer, independent of the Windows default printer.  Windows 10 removed that functionality and many hours were spent trying to fix that "feature", unfortunately with no luck.
