Solutions:

Cause:

Not 100% certain, but may be due to many many layers in the drawing
Solution:

In AutoCAD, check the MAXSORT value.  This value tells AutoCAD how many layers it should be looking for and sort them accordingly.  If your MAXSORT value is 1000 but your drawing has ~1500 layers, you may get the error indicated above.

 

Change your MAXSORT value to a higher number and see if that helps.
