Error Type: Security Error

Description:

You are not currently authorized to use this Hydratec Product.   Lack of authorization.

Solutions:


1.
Cause:

Your version of HydraKEY is out-of-date and cannot be automatically updated due to changes in AWS policies.

 

In September of 2023 AWS upgraded their servers to only allow TLS 1.2 Connections or later.  Any version of HydraKEY before version 2023.05.04 will not function correctly when trying to renew your authorization.

Solution:

Open HydraKEY and you'll likely be on version 2022.04.17 or older.

Manually update HydraKEY by following these instructions;

1. Close all Hydratec applications

 2. Open HydraKEY to the old version (likely v2022.04.17)

 3. Click on the HELP bar on the left

 4. Click on the blue ‘open help file’ text on the right. 

 5. In the PDF which opens, click on ‘Download the HydraKEY .zip file.  This will download a file to your computer. 

 6. Close HydraKEY

 7. Find the .ZIP file, extract the contents of the zip file (there will be an .EXE file extracted), then run it (after extracting it).  If possible, right-click it and select ‘run as administrator’.

 HydraKEY will then be updated to the latest version, v2023.09.09 or newer

 8. Open HydraKEY, click RENEW AUTHORIZATION

Cause:

HydraKEY and/or its database may be out of date

Solution:
  1. Open HydraKEY and if you get an 'out-of-date' message, make sure it's updated by downloading the latest HydraKEY by clicking the red UPDATE button.
  2. If you have a Long Term Authorization, click RENEW AUTHORIZATION after HydraKEY has been updated.
  3. If you have a USB Hardware Lock, click UPDATE VERSION PERMISSIONS to download a file (Hydrakey+versions.exe).  Ensure you run the newly downloaded file after downloading.

 


3.
Cause:

-You currently have no Authorization to this software in any version.

Solution:

Make sure in HydraKEY that you have an active Long Term or Temporary Software Authorization. 

or

Make sure you have a working Gemalto Entitlement

or

Make sure that your Hardware Lock is plugged in Firmly.  You can test this by observing the "Hardware Lock" entry in HydraKEY.  It should report a number in there.
