Solutions:

Cause:

Copy/pasting a one-time-use activation code has extra characters

Solution:

Either type your code in manually, or copy the code from the email into the Windows clipboard, paste it into Notepad, then re-copy the code from Notepad, making sure to not pick up any extra spaces at the front or end of the code.
